Happy New Year everyone! We hope you are having a fabulous and eventful 2019 so far.
To kick off our New Year, we’ve interviewed Lysa from SagebrushFarmNV. She blogs about her life as a mom, a wife, a foodie, and as an adventurer in Northern Nevada.

1.) Who is Sagebrush Farm? Tell us where you are based out of and a little about you and your blog!

Sagebrush Farm, NV is a little spot of earth in the northern Nevada desert. We are mostly sagebrush with dreams of becoming mostly farm!

2.) Your blog not only focuses on you and your family’s travels, but cooking recipes and tips. How do you come up with which recipes to feature on your blog?

I simply share the things that I make on a regular basis. Some of my recipes are old family recipes and some of them I have made up along the way!

3.) What recipe from your blog is your current family favorite?

My Chocolate Chip Cookies have been my family’s favorite ever since I first made them for Mr. SBF thirty years ago!

4.) Tell us a little about your Dream Pursuers Network and how your helping other entrepreneurs with their hopes and dreams.

Currently, Dream Pursuers Network is a way for me to encourage anyone who has a dream! I send a weekly email with an encouraging/motivational message (hopefully) and we have a Facebook Group where members can share and post what’s currently going on in their lives and where we can share our progress, ask for advice, etc. I hope that in the future, Dream Pursuers Network will become an important/relevant source of inspiration for/to others.

5.) What was your most recent trip?

We traveled to southern California over Thanksgiving weekend to visit family.

6.) Where are you planning to travel to next?

We plan on visiting Bodega Bay, CA in late February. We love the ocean and it’s an absolutely beautiful & peaceful place to visit.

7.) How do you fund your travel? Tell us about any savings techniques that you might have.

I wish I had a clever savings plan to share, but I don’t. I simply pay the bills and take a little bit out of the leftover budget and put it in an envelope for an upcoming trip. Not very clever but it works!

8.) Have you ever had a bad travel experience? Spill it!

I wouldn’t say a bad travel experience, but for our honeymoon (29 years ago!) we did a road trip along California’s Pacific Coast Highway. We had decided to “wing it” and had not made any hotel reservations, but had planned on staying in Carmel, CA. When we arrived in Carmel it was late at night and pouring down rain and there were absolutely NO hotel vacancies. We drove a little further north and found a motel off the highway that had a room available.

Unfortunately, it was filthy and the bathroom was full of black mold/mildew. I was exhausted and started crying so Mr. SBF went back to the motel office, explained my emotional state and they refunded our money. We drove all the way to Monterey and after several tries, we (finally) found a nice hotel.

Shane and I had a very similar travel experience in Arizona. You can drive for miles and not find any motel let alone vacancies.

9.) Tell us your top 5 traveling hacks when you’re on the road.

These aren’t really hacks, but we have a habit of making sure we do this every time…

Take plenty of bottled water for your trip and some easy snacks (granola bars, fruit, nuts, etc).

Keep a blanket in the car in case you get stranded.

Plan your gas/fueling stops (make sure you know where the next gas station is located).

Be flexible and don’t be afraid to go off the beaten path.

Keep your mood light and don’t get frustrated if/when things don’t go as planned!

10.) We love what you’re doing and sharing with the world on your blog, tell us how we can support you!

Sagebrushfarmnv.com has links to our Etsy Shop (SagebrushFarm Mercantile) where we offer vintage treasures, handcrafted items, and most excitingly, we have partnered with Wood-Fire Roasted Coffee in Reno, NV to offer SagebrushFarmNV’s exclusive Special Blend of wood-fire roasted coffee.

We also have a “Donate” button on the website for anyone who would love to contribute to what we’re doing there. I don’t think people realize that there are costs involved with running a website.
