Where to Go Pumpkin Picking Near Rochester, NY

As soon as October 1st hits, I’m immediately in the mood to head to a pumpkin patch and find a whole bunch of pumpkins to decorate our front porch.

And living in the Greater Rochester area, we’re definitely spoiled because there are SO many places to go pumpkin picking!

But I also feel like pumpkin picking has changed a lot over the years. It used to be that you went to a farm, grabbed a pumpkin, maybe got some cider and donuts, and went home. Now, some of these places are basically full-blown fall festivals with admission fees, games, rides, food vendors, and enough activities to keep you busy for an entire afternoon.

Honestly, that’s not really our thing.

Shane and I typically look for smaller farms where we can actually walk out into a pumpkin patch, pick out our pumpkins, grab some fall treats, and maybe stop somewhere for a cider afterward.

But that’s just us! If you love all the fall activities, there are some fantastic places for that around Rochester, too.

So whether you’re looking for a fun family outing, a cute fall date, or just somewhere to pick out a few pumpkins without spending a fortune, here are some of our favorite pumpkin patches and farms throughout the Rochester, NY area.

1. Wickham Farms — Penfield, NY

wickham farms

Best for: Families who want the full fall-festival experience

Wickham Farms is probably one of the first places that comes to mind when you think of fall activities around Rochester.

Located in Penfield, this farm has grown into a HUGE fall attraction with games, rides, food, photo opportunities, farm animals, and so much more.

I actually stopped by recently just to grab a few pumpkins, and I was shocked at how much the farm has grown!

And I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, but I remember once upon a time when you could visit their old location and walk out into the pumpkin patch to pick your pumpkins. Now, the experience feels a lot more focused on all the activities.

Personally, I was a little disappointed because I was just looking for that traditional pumpkin-picking experience.

However, if you’re looking to take your kids somewhere and spend an entire afternoon doing fall activities, this is THE place.

Just keep in mind that you’ll pay a premium for the experience. Their 2026 Pick & Play admission ranges from $23.95 to $29.95 per person, depending on the day, with other ticket options available.

2. Stokoe Farms — Scottsville, NY

stokoe farms

Best for: Families, groups, and a full day of fall fun

Another really popular place for pumpkin picking near Rochester is Stokoe Farms in Scottsville.

I love Stokoe Farms because it’s such a big, expansive property, and I feel like they don’t just cater to children. There are things adults can enjoy, too!

Their annual Harvest Fest includes more than 40 activities, wagon rides, farm animals, a corn maze, and plenty of fall food.

This is another place where you’re going for more than just a pumpkin.

You can easily spend several hours wandering around the farm, enjoying the activities, and grabbing some cider donuts or other fall treats.

If you’ve got kids, are planning a group outing, or just want to embrace everything fall has to offer, Stokoe Farms is definitely worth checking out.

However, like Wickham Farms, this is an admission-based attraction, so I wouldn’t necessarily choose it if your only goal is to pick out a couple of pumpkins.

3. West Wind Farm & Blue Barn Cidery — Hilton, NY

west wind farm

Best for: A traditional pumpkin-picking experience and a fall date

Now THIS is more our style!

West Wind Farm, located right next to Blue Barn Cidery in Hilton, is one of my absolute favorite places to visit in the fall.

Shane and I go here every single year.

We usually grab some cider and donuts, head out into the pumpkin patch, pick out our pumpkins, and wander through their cute little corn maze.

It’s simple, relaxed, and exactly what I picture when I think of pumpkin picking.

However, this year was a little different.

Because of the unusually wet growing season, the pumpkins didn’t do as well as they normally would. When we visited in October 2026, we learned that the pumpkins in the patch had been brought in from elsewhere.

So while you could still walk out into the field and pick out a pumpkin, you weren’t actually picking one that had grown there on the vine like in previous years.

And honestly, if you had a vegetable garden this year like I did, you probably understand. It was a wet growing season, and not everything did well!

That being said, this is still one of my favorite fall outings.

And what makes it an even better DATE idea is that Blue Barn Cidery is right next door!

After picking your pumpkins, you can head over for a cider, grab something to eat, and just enjoy being outside.

It’s the perfect example of how something as simple as pumpkin picking can turn into a really fun afternoon together.

Tip: Call West Wind Farm’s picking hotline before visiting, especially after rainy weather, to confirm conditions and pumpkin availability.

4. Long Acre Farms — Macedon, NY

corn maze

Best for: Couples, corn mazes, and a fall date night

If you’re looking for a pumpkin patch that can easily turn into a date, Long Acre Farms in Macedon is another great option.

They have their farm market, fall treats, the Amazing Maize Maze, and JD Wine Cellars right on the property.

So again, you can turn it into so much more than just, “Let’s go buy a pumpkin.”

But what really caught my attention is their Moonlight Maze!

During the fall, Long Acre Farms opens its corn maze at night, where you can grab a flashlight and try to find your way through the maze in the dark.

How fun would that be for a date?!

Instead of doing a corn maze in the middle of the afternoon, you’re wandering through it at night, and that automatically makes it a little more interesting.

You can also grab food, enjoy a drink at the winery, and pick up some fall treats while you’re there.

And if you don’t want to pay for the full maze experience, you can still visit the farm’s courtyard and market area without purchasing admission.

5. Powers Farm Market — Pittsford, NY

petting zoo

Best for: A classic fall farm-market outing

Powers Farm Market in Pittsford is another Rochester fall staple.

This is a great option if you want more of that traditional farm-market feeling without necessarily committing to a huge fall festival.

They have pumpkins, seasonal produce, cider, fall treats, and cute farm animals you can visit.

It’s the kind of place where you can stop by, wander around for a little while, pick out your fall decorations, and enjoy being outside.

I also think this would be a great place to bring younger kids if you want a fun fall outing without planning an entire day around it.

Or, if you’re going as a couple, grab some pumpkins and fall treats, then find somewhere nearby for lunch or coffee.

Sometimes the simplest outings are the best ones.

6. Lagoner Farms & Embark Craft Ciderworks — Williamson, NY

lagoner farms

Best for: A laid-back fall outing with cider and farm-market treats

Lastly, one that Shane and I discovered last year is Lagoner Farms in Williamson.

And this is another one that really fits the kind of fall experience we enjoy.

You’ve got the farm market, seasonal pumpkins and produce, baked goods, and Embark Craft Ciderworks right there.

So you can stop by to pick out your pumpkins, grab some delicious fall treats, and then head over for a cider.

To me, that’s the perfect fall afternoon!

I especially love finding places like this because they make it easy to support local farms and businesses while spending time together.

And since Williamson is a little farther east of Rochester, you can even turn it into a mini road trip.

Which Rochester Pumpkin Patch Should You Visit?

Honestly, it depends on what kind of fall experience you’re looking for.

If you’re bringing the kids and want a full afternoon of activities, Wickham Farms or Stokoe Farms would probably be your best bet.

If you’re planning a date night, I’d look into Long Acre Farms and their Moonlight Maze.

If you’re like Shane and me and just want to walk through a pumpkin patch, grab some pumpkins, and enjoy a cider afterward, West Wind Farm and Blue Barn Cidery would be my first choice.

And if you’re looking for a simple fall outing with a farm market, Powers Farm Market and Lagoner Farms are worth putting on your list.

Just remember that not every farm offers the same kind of pumpkin-picking experience. Some have pumpkins already harvested and displayed for purchase, while others let you walk out into the field and choose your own.

If physically picking pumpkins from the patch is important to you, I highly recommend checking with the farm before you go.

Turn Pumpkin Picking Into a Fall Date!

You know what I always say — a date doesn’t have to be expensive or elaborate.

Sometimes it’s just about getting out of your normal routine and doing something fun together.

And pumpkin picking is such an easy way to do that!

Here are a few ways to make it more than just a quick trip to the farm:

  • Pumpkin picking + cider tasting: Visit West Wind Farm and then head over to Blue Barn Cidery.
  • Pumpkin picking + corn maze: Spend an afternoon at Long Acre Farms, or make it a nighttime adventure with their Moonlight Maze.
  • Pumpkin picking + farm-market shopping: Pick up pumpkins, cider, donuts, and ingredients to make a cozy fall dinner together.
  • Pumpkin picking + pumpkin carving: Bring your pumpkins home, put on a Halloween movie, and have a little pumpkin-carving competition.
  • Pumpkin picking + a scenic drive: Take the back roads through Wayne County, enjoy the fall foliage, and stop at a farm market along the way.

And if you have a front porch like we do, you can even make a date out of decorating it together!
