There’s something extra cozy about a breakfast date. Maybe it’s the slower start to the day, the smell of fresh coffee, or finally sitting across from your person without the hustle of everyday life rushing in.
We just returned from a trip to Central PA to visit our families who live there. Typically, we would only go to Hoboken in Benton because it’s always been the cheapest and best bang for your buck, but they recently closed, so finding a breakfast place was a top priority last time we were visiting. Which is why I felt inspired to write this, so enjoy!
If you’re looking for your next morning adventure, Central PA is filled with small-town gems that serve up great food, friendly vibes, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to linger a little longer. So, if you are ever finding yourself in Central PA, here are our Top 5 Breakfast Date Spots in Central PA – all locally loved and perfect for your next slow morning.
1. Full Bull Table & Market – Rohrsburg, PA

If you love a country-chic vibe with food that tastes like it came straight from your grandmother’s kitchen, The Full Bull is your spot. I remember when I was younger and this used to be a convenience store. Somewhere I’d stop at on the way home from school which was a 30-min drive one-way. Grabbing a soda and a gummy candy burger or pizza. You know what I’m talkin’ about!
Now at this place you can expect hearty portions, friendly faces, and a menu that rotates with creative breakfast specials (yes, we’re talking stuffed French toast levels of heavenly). AND they have a full coffee bar. If I drank coffee, it would have been fun. But I am a tea drinker through and through, and sadly they didn’t have anything tea related, which surprised me. But if you love coffee, THIS is the spot.
After breakfast, walk through their small market after you eat — grab a homemade jam or fresh-baked treat to take home!
2. The Old Filling Station – Benton, PA

Located in the heart of Benton, this cozy diner-style restaurant is known for its homestyle cooking and nostalgic atmosphere. Yes, it used to be a real, old, working filling station back in the day. The food is SO fresh! The last time I went here, I was shocked to see even the bread was homemade. And trust me, you can tell. That’s not something you see everyday at a restaraunt, especially a diner like place.
Now, if Hoboken was still open, we may not be having this conversation. But, The Old Filling Station is taking the reigns on being the only breakfast spot in Benton and they are doing a great job.
3. Morris Family Restaurant – Berwick, PA
This family-run spot is comfort-food heaven. It’s the kind of place where the coffee never runs low and the staff genuinely cares that you’re having a good morning. It’s a popular choice for when I meet up with friends for breakfast in the area! The prices are decent and the portions are perfect. Whether you want a classic egg platter or something sweet and indulgent, Morris Family Restaurant serves it with warm, small-town charm.
4. Root 11 Bistro – Bloomsburg, PA
Root 11 Bistro brings a modern twist to breakfast with fresh ingredients, creative menu options, and a bright, airy atmosphere. Maybe it’s more brunch than breakfast, but we’re gonna count it anyways!
Think avocado toast, breakfast burritos, loaded hash bowls, and coffee drinks worth writing home about. It’s a little trendier than your classic diner, perfect for those who enjoy a lighter, more contemporary breakfast.
Attached to the restaurant is a health food store. Be sure to walk around in there and shop afterwards. You’ll love it!
5. Woody’s Place – Catawissa, PA

Woody’s Place Diner and Coffee House has that “local favorite” feel — the kind of spot that surprises you with how good everything is. Portions are generous, the food is consistently tasty, and the prices are hard to beat.
It’s casual, cozy, and exactly what a small-town breakfast date should be. Once again, I’m not a coffee drinker, but I love the idea of their coffee flights. Sometimes I just wish I was a coffee drinker to have fun with things like this!
Be sure to show up early, the place gets packed! That’s how you know it’s good and worth it. Take a post-breakfast stroll around Catawissa’s charming streets. Such a cute town!
Central PA is full of hidden gems, but these five spots shine for their food, atmosphere, and pricing in our opinion. From trendy bites to classic comfort food, you really can’t go wrong.
