Trail Town Coffee: Chattanooga’s Perfect Blend of Adventure and Great Coffee

When I think of Chattanooga, a few things come to mind: mountains, outdoor adventures, and scenic views. During my time in the city, I found one coffee shop that perfectly captured all of those elements under one roof – Trail Town Coffee.

Located inside High Point Climbing and Fitness, Trail Town Coffee isn’t your average coffee shop. It’s a place where climbers fuel up before hitting the wall, outdoor enthusiasts gather after exploring Chattanooga’s trails, and visitors like me can get a true taste of the city’s adventurous spirit.

My friend Kristin and I were in Chattanooga this past week for the 2026 Women in Travel Summit hosted by Wanderful. This was my 3rd WITS, and it did not disappoint. We went cave splunking, bike riding, hiking, and even got a behind-the-scenes in-depth tour with the Tennessee Aquarium. (post to come soon)

One thing we were supposed to do was rock climbing at sunset at one of the nearby mountains hosted by High Point Climbing, but unfortunately it rained almost every day we were there so it was canceled. Instead, I went to Trail Town Coffee – the coffee shop connected to the climbing gym to check it out!

The first thing that stood out to me was the atmosphere inside the coffee shop. The space feels uniquely Chattanooga. And if you’ve ever been to Nooga, you know what I mean. It just has a different kind of energy, like a feeling of outdoorsy and adventure, and I loved it. As I sipped my drink, climbers and adventurers moved throughout the facility, outdoor gear lined the walls, and it was just a really fun place to sit down and relax.

You can browse climbing gear, pick up outdoor apparel, and even grab a Trail Town Coffee t-shirt while enjoying your food (which is what I did).

Seasonal Menus

As beautiful as Chattanooga’s mountain views are, the star of my visit may have been the Tokyo Fog. I mean, look at how pretty it was!

Trail Town Coffee has a seasonal menu and we were just in time for their Spring Menu. On this Spring Menu was this iced matcha Earl Grey tea latte which was easily one of the prettiest drinks I’ve ordered in a long time with it’s vibrant layers that slowly blended together.

The earthy matcha paired surprisingly well with the floral notes of Earl Grey tea, creating a drink that felt both refreshing and comforting. It struck a perfect balance between tea and latte, with neither flavor overpowering the other.

It was fun to pick and choose a drink on their seasonal menu that is ever rotating so you don’t order the same thing again and again.

The Perfect Grab-and-Go Breakfast

Since I was stopping in during a busy day of exploring Chattanooga, and taking a break from the conference, I opted for a couple of breakfast items that sounded both filling and convenient, even though it was lunch time.

First up was the Maple Bacon Cheddar Croissant. If you know me, I will order anything that starts with “maple bacon”. It’s an obsession. So I was thrilled to see this sitting in their glass bakery case near the register.

Flaky, buttery, and packed with flavor, this croissant delivered exactly what you’d hope for from a savory breakfast pastry. The combination of sweet maple, smoky bacon, and sharp cheddar created a balance that kept me reaching for another bite.

Alongside the croissant, I tried the egg bites, which provided a protein-packed addition to the meal. Light, flavorful, and easy to eat on the go, they paired perfectly with both the croissant and my latte.

Aside from my friend Kristin traveling with me, I actually got to meet one of my clients in real life and her daughter. As some of you know, my main business is digital marketing for small businesses, authors and travel bloggers. Everything I do is remotely, so some of my clients I actually never get to meet. So, this was an extra special week to actually meet one of them in person and I just loved her little girl! We had a fun time trying out this coffee shop together.

What makes Trail Town Coffee memorable isn’t just the quality of the food or drinks, although both were excellent. It’s the overall experience.

Where else can you enjoy a beautifully crafted matcha latte, dig into a maple bacon cheddar croissant, browse climbing gear, and soak in Chattanooga’s adventurous spirit all in one visit?

Trail Town Coffee feels less like a stop for coffee and more like a destination that embodies the lifestyle Chattanooga is known for and I highly recommend you stop in!

If you’re planning a trip to Chattanooga or simply looking for a new local favorite, put Trail Town Coffee on your list. Order something from their seasonal menu, grab a breakfast pastry, take in the atmosphere, and you’ll quickly understand why this spot has become a favorite gathering place for adventurers and coffee lovers alike.

My Order:

  • Tokyo Fog (Iced Matcha Earl Grey Tea Latte)
  • Maple Bacon Cheddar Croissant
  • Egg Bites

Would I Order It Again? Absolutely.
